Over the Mountain garages — Mountain Brook, Homewood, Vestavia Hills — mostly sit on slabs poured between the 1950s and 1980s, and old concrete needs different prep than new: more repair, more grinding, and often an old failed coating to remove first. Walk a Crestline or Edgewood garage and you'll usually find sixty-year-old concrete that's still structurally excellent — under a soft, dusty top skin and at least one previous owner's failed paint job. That floor needs grinding and repair before it needs color, and the honest quote says so up front.

The Highway 280 and Shelby County growth belt — Hoover, Chelsea, Helena, Alabaster — is the opposite problem: builder-grade slabs so new they often haven't finished curing when owners call, and we won't coat concrete younger than 28 days. From Greystone and Ross Bridge out through Highland Lakes and the newest Chelsea streets, the story is cure timing: owners want the garage finished the month they move in, and concrete has its own calendar.
