Garage Floor Coating Cost
$5–$9/sq ft installed · totals by garage size below
A garage floor coating in Huntsville costs $5–$9 per square foot installed, which puts a 450 sq ft 2-car garage between $2,250 and $4,050. Most 2-car garages we coat book between $2,000 and $3,800, because few slabs need every repair and add-on at once. The table below runs the math for every common garage size, and the rest of this page covers the only pricing question that actually matters: what's inside the number.
Totals, not teasers
What each garage size costs
These numbers price the full build described on our garage floor coating page — diamond grinding, crack repair, a polyurea base coat, full flake broadcast, and a polyaspartic topcoat. One day on the tools for most garages.
The low end of each row is a sound, dry slab with standard flake. The high end is a slab that needs real repair work or moisture mitigation before anything decorative happens. Most floors land in the middle, which is why the typical booked 2-car sits at $2,000–$3,800 rather than pinned to either edge.
Setup, mobilization, and grinding cost nearly the same on a 250 sq ft single bay as on a 650 sq ft 3-car, which is why smaller garages land at the high end of the per-foot range.
One thing that moves a quote and surprises people: cracks. Hairline shrinkage cracks are routine to repair and coat over, but if your slab has a crack with one side sitting higher than the other, read the cracked garage floor page before you collect quotes. It changes the conversation.
| Garage size | Low end | High end |
|---|---|---|
| 1-car (~250 sq ft) | $1,250 | $2,250 |
| 2-car (~450 sq ft) | $2,250 | $4,050 |
| 3-car (~650 sq ft) | $3,250 | $5,850 |

Read the cheap quote closely
What a suspiciously cheap quote leaves out
Every so often a homeowner shows us a quote at a fraction of this range and asks what the catch is. There's always a catch, and it's usually one of three.
No diamond grinding. Grinding is machine time, diamond tooling that wears out, and dust control — it's expensive, and it's the bond. Cheap quotes substitute acid etching or "thorough cleaning," and the coating ends up stuck to the weak top skin of the slab instead of keyed into the concrete. You won't see the difference at install. You'll see it when it peels.
No named products. "Commercial-grade epoxy" is not a product, it's a vibe. If the quote won't say what's in the bucket, you can't check a datasheet, compare moisture tolerance, or hold anyone to anything.
No aliphatic topcoat. The clear wear layer is where budget builds save the most. A non-aliphatic topcoat ambers in the sun at your door line and softens under hot tires off the Parkway in August. A quote that skips diamond grinding, won't name its three products, or swaps in a non-aliphatic topcoat isn't a cheaper version of this floor — it's a different floor.
The cheapest version of all three corners cut at once is the box-store kit — DIY kits run a couple hundred dollars, and there's one scenario where we'd honestly tell you to buy one. That math is on the DIY kit vs professional comparison.
Spend less, honestly
How to keep your quote at the low end
Three things you control, none of which involve cutting prep.
Empty the garage. Moving your stuff is a line item. A bare slab when the crew arrives isn't.
Pick standard flake. Every standard blend prices the same, so the color decision is free. Only oversized specialty flake adds material cost.
Skip add-ons you don't need. Coating the stem wall looks sharp, but it's hand work priced by the linear foot. If the budget's tight, the floor is the part that matters.
What you can't economize on is the slab itself. If it needs repair or moisture work, that money is the floor — everything decorative rides on it.
